Soooo....

So Fuz and i went to GW for a game the other night. And kinda by accident i entered the tournament >.>

Sooo...

While i was fighting FuZ a few guys came over and asked if they could fight us, and being the amiable gents we are, we agreed. Now heres the interesting thing, where my force had failed misserbly against FuZ 500pt Tyranid force only days before, it was now exchanging blows in equal measure, with poor rolls on my end and arguably good rolls on FuZ end. This left me suitably bemused, to consider perhaps i had misjudged my ability to create a competitive force.

I was of course mistaken Not only did my next opponent trounce me, he did so expending very little effort, and the vast majority of his decisions were purely for the fun of it. The best example of this would of course be his penchant for sending dedicated troop transport's through buildings, just because he can.

So i was left not really knowing what to think of my army list, i really do think i am fighting the wrong forces to be honest. I mean, playing as i am, with a relatively poor grasp of what i can and cannot do,, ok well maybe not poor, but definately incomplete knowledge, means if someone is bulshitting me,, i have no real way of calling them on it. Did not know a incredibly crucial fact about my deepstriking deployment till the other day as well, which looking back would have won me every battle i lost bar one,. So as i said, im unsure.....

Im getting some new models to reinvigorate my army, and provide some different options, hopefully this will provide the leg up i need to field a more competitive army list.

Stomped

Cbfd fluffing the match up...too muchh effort considering...

So we all played a 2v2 500 point per player game, following the current tourny rules, and fiddly and i got stomped, hard, memore so than fiddly.

Either im the shittest tactician in the world "entirely possible" or the army i have chosen is shit, or both, or im bad. W/e, point remains got full blown stomped, any confidence i may have had is gone, there is no way in hell id bother entering the tournament, just be a waste of time.

and speaking of wastes of time, the new ordo malius "grey knights" stuff has come out, pure anti demon army, so yay for me, having chosen the army that gets ass raped by them, always fun to pick the wrong team >.>

being me is just so depressingly boring....

Swarm Lord is overpriced, right? 8-+D

Hello friends.

So I've been playing a couple of 1000 point games with my newly assembled Blood Angels army. The first two were against FuZ's voracious (and overpowered) Tyranids. Featuring your hated enemy and mine, the Swarm Lord. Considering my army had at the time 800 points of dedicated assault troops, well ... it didn't go as well as I had hoped.

Two rather big losses to start with.

I remember in one game after seven assault phases, I had two marines left and the only thing he had even attacked with all game was my great friend 'Swarmy.

In case your unfamiliar with this HQ choice, In a melee and on the Swarm Lord has five T6 wounds with a 3+/4+ invulnerable save and the psychic skill leech essence (1-2 stolen wounds a turn). Pretty respectable for 280 points right? On the offense he comes with four I6 S6 W9 power attacks, which force re-rolls of successful invulnerable saves and then cause instant death.

He destroys tanks, special characters, infantry and elite assault units with ease. Anything he can reach he will basically beat.

We even tried a mock up of Mephiston vs the Swarm Lord, they cost the same points and are meant to do pretty much the same job. The poor enraged librarian managed to only pull off one wound (the only wound he could cause, which swarmy thankfully failed) before being ID'd.

Normally Meph would then use his Force Sword to go for the throat, but shadow in the warp leaves him with only a 45% shot at the kill before facing the 99% ID retaliation from Swarmy. When the points costs are so even, those are some very bad odds.

Rough indeed.

On my 3rd game though I managed to scare FuZ off from fielding the Swarm Lord by filling my army with melta and missile weapons at every turn. Weapons which deny him any kind of save because he needs to be in melee to get his 4+ invulnerable save. 3+ to hit, 2+ to wound, 5 wounds = dead. Six melta shots and five missiles seeking him out, and his fucked.

Without Swarmy and with my new (shown below) all-comers or "tournament" list poor FuZ didn't stance a chance. His stealer's were melted and his gaunts bombarded. GG old chap.

As it stands, here is my army. Meet the BLOOD HAWKS.

HQ: (170 pts) Reclusiarch with Jump Pack and Infernus Pistol
Elite: (90 pts) Sanguinary Priest with Jump Pack and Infernus Pistol
Troop: (260 pts) 10 Assault Marines with 2 Meltaguns, Sergeant with Power Fist and Infernus Pistol
Troop: (260 pts) 10 Tactical Marines with Missile Launcher, Sergeant with Power Fist and Infernus Pistol + Razorback Transport with Heavy Bolter
Heavy: (130 pts) 5 Devastator Marines with 4 Missile Launchers
Heavy: (90 pts) Whirlwind Tank

Total: (1000 pts)

A minor setback in the scheme of things...

The Daemon host waited near the weakened veil, their sister armies success in a distant battlefield on the planet had raised expectations of the other hosts by their patron, carrying this sense of anticipation to the point of anger and frustration was the Bloodthirster Bar'badon, his brother Mor'badon had been the leader of the successful incursion, should Bar'badon hope to gain greater favor with Khorne, he would have to out do his brother. At the promptings from the Traitorous changeling he had waited, promised a foe whos defeat would surely acrue the blood gods favor. weeks had passed, the Bloodthirster growing ever more impatient, turning on underlings in psychotic fits of rage, until a small contingent of blood angel marines crested a nearby hilltop.

Brother captain Furion gazed upon the valley below, it was srewn with rocks and boulders, broken burnt out building littered the countryside,, and a small spring gurgle with fresh water from an underground source. He motioned for his marines to hold, seasoned veterens of his command, they obeyed without question, something didn't feel right. There had been no reports of enemy activity in this sector, but his gut told Furion something wasn't right.
A marine broke vox silence "sir the spring..." he sounded unsure of himself. Furion turned his gaze back to the spring and bit back a curse, the clear spring water was gone, in its place a crimson ooze gurgles, the waters surface seeming to form tormented faces, only to disapear and reform a few moments later. Furion Barked out the order over the vox immediately "{re[are for battle, Daemons incoming!!!"

no more than a second later, a beast more than twice the height of a space marine lept from the spring, in a spray of what Furion now recognised as partialy congealed blood, its leap brought it right into the midst of Furion and his marines.

Furion could not help but admire the bravery of his brother marines as they not only held thier ground before the towering demon but advanced upon it.
Seasoned veteren's of battles beyond counting they ducked and weaved around the daemons furious onslaught, firing a damning rain of righteous fury upon the demon.
Furion turned his atention from the Bloodthirster for a moment, more demons were leaping from the blighte spring, smaller spindly daemons, who cackled and gibbered in excited glee, but unlike the bloodthirster they held back, keeping tthier distance froim the marines, this would prove a fatal mistake, Furian would make sure of it!!

The devastator marines performing overwatch, opened fire upon them, with a barrage of sanctified rockets, very few of the daemons survived, still more being ppicked off by his Marines who had refrained from engaging the bloodthirster. thier was a deafening howl, Furion was knocked off his feet by a blow from behind, he saw the bloodthirster clawing at the smouldering sockets its eyes had but a moment before occupied. in an insane rage the Bloodthirster charged forwards, swinging wildly, furions marines leaped out of its path, it charged onwards blindly, untill it struck th Razorback transport, it brought its axe crashing down on the Razorback crushing its cockpit doubtless killing the pilot.
The Bloodthirster bellowed in impotent rage, dismayed by the disturbing lack of mortal blood shed to honor the bloodgod.
Mid howl a rocket, no doubt guided by the emporer himself! flew straight and true, striking the beast in its open maw, the beast could give little more than a breathless grunt of surprise, before his head exploded in a rain of blood and gore.

Just as Furion thought the battle was over, another hulking figure, had entered the fray, wearing Space marine armor! it grinned wickedly, three men who had met his gaze were reduced to little more than piles of ash, the space marines opened fire, their determination to lay low the traitor marine burning brighter in thier breasts perhaps than their devotion to the emperor himself..
The daemon hissed and cursed under the hail of endless bolterfire, until finally, its mortal connection severed, whent, screaming back to the immaterial of the warp.

Hey guys, well Thrifty and i had a match after uni today, 1000 points each, and well, erm, i got my ass kicked basically, combination of poor tactical choices and bad rolls, pretty funny actualy XD. Sso we spent perhaps a good hour perhaps talking strategy and army composition. and by the end of it i tihnk we hit upon a good core setup, so the next time it should be definitively less one sided XD

oh well win some lose some, and atleast my wins/loss ratio is still 1/1 lol, laters.
