2000 point games take forever

Two thousand point armies clashing with another, as you might expect, can take forever , especially if all 4 players are relatively new to 40k (two turns for each player took 2h). However, noobieness was not the reason for 1h turns for each side.

THEN HOW THE HELL DID IT TAKE SO LONG? you might ask

I'll show you why.

Victory!

So we had a nice two vs two game today, FuZ "tyranids" me "chaos daemons" vs Fiddly "eldar" and Thrifty "Blood Angels Space Marines", and i have to say, it was pretty bad-ass! at first FuZ and i were a little unsure aas to our chances, given the beating he took, given the unique deployment rules of chaos daemon armies, but once we got into it, we gave the other two guys a fair beating :P that is untill Thrifty had to go home for a pressing engagement /cough 'WoW' /cough, but all in all the session was fun, but i have to say i think i enjoyed it a teensy bit more coz we won :P

VS

So the rest of this post is basicaly me giving a creative interpretation of events as they unfolded.

The Eldar and Space marines had halted thier advance, each had been only moments from launching thier inital assaults, when the reports came flooding in of a Tyranid Swarm inbound, the battle lines changed almost immediately, The Blood angels putting aside thieer hatred of the Eldar temporarily to combat the greater threat.

It was glorious, each shot fired by the Space Marines bringing glory and honor to the Emporor, tearing the Xenos scum apart before they could even fire back. The Eldars advanced energy weapons raked accross tyranid lines, the advance force of the Tyranids had been halted, if the Space Marines could keep thier bloodlust and Xenophobia in check, the battle would be won.

Then...

The wind began to scream with a thousand tortured voices, the sky wept tears of blood, the earth tore open...

In the midst of the warpstorm, Hell literaly broke loose!

Daemons tore through the fabric of reality and surged into the material realm, Horrors of the warp cackling and screaching with glee pointing to the space marines in perverse anticipation. A BloodThirster slammed into the earth, into the bulk of the enemy force, boldly bellowing his challenge to all the weak mortals to face him in combat, and pledging thier blood for Khornes goblet and thier skulls for Khornes throne!

Horror warpfire melted Marines where they stood, almost an entire tactical squad gone in an instant, the Bloodthirster still seeking its footing threw a molten bronze skull at the Marines cowering the ruins of a building, but missed, striking an eldar warwalker instead, the bloodthirster howled in rage, promising the cowards a painful death.

The hive minds gambit had suceeded, focusing an excessive and reckless amount of psychic energy in the prey vicinity had weakened the veil of reality, and the Minions of chaos had torn it open, throwing themselves at the prey. As they were sufficiently distracted, the hive mind ordered the genestealers onto the flanks of the unsuspecting prey's forces.

More daemons spilled into the battle, the air crackling with warpfire, the shrieks and screams of daemons, and the raucus bellowing laughter of the Bloodthirster as he tore the Warwalker apart and decapitated the nearby warlocks.

A Space Marine terminator squad droppod crashed behind Tyranid lines, and opened fire on the swarm, defiantly chanting thier devotions to the emporor, thier faith in his protection did not waver for even the vriefest of moments. They opened fire on the Zoanthrope, strongest link to the hive mind, if they killed it the Tyranid swarm would be dealt a crippling blow. the Zoanthropes Psychic defences proved too great and it escaped serious injury, nearby rippers launched themselves at the terminators, preventing them from attacking the Hiveminds connection again.

Recognising the threat pose by the enemies vehicals the Hive tyrant slammed into the space marines tank, crushing its tracks, through the Synaptic link, the Tyrant ordered the lurking genestealers to strike, they had skirted the battle waiting patiently for the Hives orders, they leapt from the undergrowth upon the Eldar fire prism, raking claws finding infantismal openings, and inn a matter of moments tore it apart, slaughtering its crew. The prey began to retreat, stragglers devouredd in an orgy of screams and blood.

The gods of chaos had watched the battle unfold, delighting in each death the enemy suffered, punishing mercilessly any minioons whos mortal teathers were severed, this would be the first battle of many to come, the planet Tenfir would drown in a sea of blood! http://media.moddb.com/cache/images/groups/1/3/2055/thumb_620x2000/1224482802098.jpg

Blood and Fear...

So its abeen a while, forgot my password haha, armies now fully assembled, a hero once presumed lost, has been found once more (pauses, allowing thrifty time to change his pants) now Fiddly said something interesting to me the other night at one of our other hobby nights the other day, that he "would not like to fight my army the day after i rolled poorly" the logic being my luck comes in waves, like the tides, this is of course, true, but not nessisarily on a daily basis. Not that ill bother reminding them of it each time they do decide to face my army, it will just be a pleasant surprise ^^.

My daemonic host stands ready to fall upon Human, Eldar and Tyranid scum, and should my army be beaten back in the material realm, it is only a matter of time before it reforms and strikes anew, daemon are immortal beings of the warp after all.

My first battle against the tyranid filth was with only melee troops, the only force i had managed to muster at the time, now i can tell many of you would now expect a epic flame fest of me ranting about how hax tyranids are, and that its undair and whatnot....

Tyranids: It's Simple, Your Gonna Die

But i must stop there, for if anyones to do the flaming it would be FuZ, i dominated him, in every sense of the word,

The immortal prowess of my daemonettes tearing his genestealers to ribbons, the forbidden knowledge of my daemon prince blasting warriors and zoanthropes from existance itself, and my bloodthirster piling high the skulls for the skull throne, at its peak the skull of the hive tyrant. its true neither of us actualy won the match, each of us held our objectives, but in levels of deaths and pointloss, i OWNED FuZ, were it a standup fight, the battle would have ended just a couple turns later, FuZ final units consisting of little more than a small pack odf genestealers and a directionless confused swarm of termagaunts, while army army stood in almost its entirety.

My daemons have tasted blood, and hunger for more...

Your next Thrifty....
